As a little girl a wee bit too much exposed to the TV and the American culture, I've always wondered how it's like to be celebrating Halloween and donning some of those some classic halloween costumes such as witches and ghostly apparitions in white sheets. Sure it is not a norm here in Malaysia for children to go trick-or-treating around the neighbourhood (we have Hari Raya to do that, don't we? ;p) but wouldn't it be nice to be able to dress ourselves up in silly costumes once in a while? There is no harm in that I think, it's more or less like a fancy dress event, except that you'll have to be a responsible parent and practice some standard halloween costume safety tips.
My in laws who stayed in the US for a while sent me a couple of pics of their children attending a Halloween party last year. The kakak, the princess of the family, obviously chose to be a fairy princess, and the abang, as predicted came as an astronaut! It was easy to deal with the princess outfit since SIL is quite an accomplished seamstress, but she had a hard time pleasing the boy because he wanted an astronaut headgear to go with his suit, but they couldn't find a helmet or anything that resembles it, so they almost sent him off to the party with a fishbowl over his head! But at the last minute, the boy agreed to just put on a baseball cap. Phew, for a mom, everything needs to be planned before hand.
But at this day and age, who would have the time to go browsing for the perfect costume for the whole family at the stores anyway? You don't have to go through the stress my SIL did, just check out the stuff at costumecauldron.com and you'll be amazed at the extensive range of outfits to choose from. You'll have a hard time picking which one you're gonna wear for that Halloween party ;)
They don't only have costumes for your kids and toddlers, but for infants and pets as well! They're all so darn cute, and they even have Barney costume! I don't know about you guys, but I find a dachshund in a hot dog suit pretty hilarious!
But fun as it is to be able to dress up as someone else on that day, I wouldn't wanna change a thing about me and just be true to myself.

and Nunu can be the toddler raggedy ann!
We make a cute mother-daughter team, don't we? I'm willing to go door to door trick-or-treating with Nunu in this costume. I'm sure everyone will be mighty tickled and we'll get lots of candies!
