JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON

... of BPA-free bottles awareness.

I admit, I knew about the dangers of normal plastic baby bottles some time back, but somehow grew indifferent towards the issue since it was quite difficult to get the BPA free ones back then - and my, were they PRICEY. Furthermore, at that time, Nunu wasn't that keen on feeding bottles and prefered cups, but I don't know what happened, slowly she got used to bottles, I guess - and I conveniently forgot about it.

So what made me into panic-mode now? Martian lah, he got to know about these harmful bottles that I've been using for Nunu and those generic water bottles we have around the house, so he told me to get those 'safe' ones, at all cost.

Here, I went a frenzy to find the cheapest 'safe' water containers possible (I fell into the misconception that only bottles marked with the number '5' underneath them are safe - stupid chain e-mail) and went on a search for the cheapest BPA free bottles available.

So, that's the story. The BPA issue is kinda stale actually, but I know there are a lot of people out there who are still uninformed of the matter. So this is me highlighting something pretty important for my loyal reader (that's you Zalin, haha)

For more details, get on googling, and here's a useful link.

p/s: Those bottles were purchased from Lil Caliph. I give the store a plus for accepting payment from my measly paypal account. LOL. Thanks a bunch Molina.

THE CURSE OF F13

As much as I want to keep this blog in a positive light as possible, I can't ignore the fact that our lives sometimes is a reality freak show. And to just omit that part of my life would almost mean that I'm misrepresenting that life is all good and rosy for me, which is not the case most of the time.

The most bizarre thing happened to me today, but knowing me, the trouble magnet-slash-potato head-slash-hopeless klutz, I'd probably played this up to a higher degree than necessary. I should put this in point form to avoid my usual boring drone. Furthermore, I can't construct a proper sentence anymore, feeling like want to pengsan oredy...

1. First thing in the morning, I pushed the wrong button on my water filter and thought I had warm water in my mug, result - burnt my tongue.

2. Was late to send Nunu off to school, coz the evening before I left her bag which contained the one and only uniform in the car, and before I realized it, Martian already took the car so he could play bowling. So we didn't have time to get her uniform washed, she insisted that she wore sporty pants this morning, which had a humongous tear at the crotch. Of course we had a huge fight over it, but she won.

3. Realized that the car was low on gas. I was low in cash as well. Pumped petrol at my usual petrol station with Martian's credit card that I use for emergencies. The transaction failed thrice, but an attendant came to help and after that, I remember very well that I kept the cc right where it belonged in my wallet.

4. Drove to SJ to drop by the ATM to withdraw cash. I took RM300 the first time around, then realizing that I needed more than that to be transferred to another account, I tried to withdraw from the ATM the second time. The transaction failed 3 times, then ATM was possessed by Freddy Krueger's spirit and 'ate' my card.

5. Waited for the bank manager for 1/2 hour before he appeared and told me that he couldn't retrieve my card because they've outsourced the ATM management to a security company which would only come to service the machines NEXT WEEK. So they would call me when they've retrived my card. Just great, right?

6. I needed the extra cash for my new specs. I decided that I would use the credit card to pay for the specs and I'd settle the bill next week. Spent the next 1/2 hour at the nearby optical store feeling really good about myself for finding the perfect pair within my budget, until it was time to pay up. I emptied my whole bag, and couldn't find the darn credit card.

7. Sheepishly apologized to the salespeople at the store, explained and stormed out to my car and turned it upside down. Still no sign of the cc. Tried calling Martian many times, but it was solat jumaat time. Luckily I had the bank's customer service number and reported it missing. Initially the officer wouldn't suspend the card because she needed the card owner's verification. WTF right? So I 'begged' to her that if it didn't get suspended NOW, someone will find the card and go on a spending spree and she'd pay for it.

8. Ran back to the optical store to tell them that I'd be back to pay for the specs. I promised that I would come by later in the evening, after I've gone back to my office to get my bank book. That's the only way I can withdraw cash.

9. Drove around to run a few more errands. Luckily, no mishaps, no drama. Reached the office and entertained some nonsensical issues. Was held back by those nonsensical issued. Finally was able to reach Martian on his phone, so had to tadah my ears listening to him nag about my carelessness.

10. Rushed to the bank with my bank book, but reached there 4.15 on the dot, and it was CLOSED! I wanted to bang my head oredy...

11. I realized I didn't have anything to eat or drink since morning, so I dropped by Tesco to get something. I had mee goreng but couldn't enjoy it due to all the mishap and the burnt tongue.

12. Realized that the fridge was empty back home, so I bought some groceries. I budgeted the stuff cun-cun RM40, coz I only had RM44 in my wallet. After the cashier scanned my groceries, the total was RM48. How embarrassing it was to tell her that I need to cancel some items coz I only had RM44. To make her feel sorry for me (coz she pandang slack at first) I told her the truth, the ATM telan my card, and I lost my CC. So sad...

13. Rushed home to fetch Nunu at school. The icing on today's nightmarish cake was Nunu peeing on the carpet in her room coz she simply cannot tahan anymore. And my A**tro was suspended because I owe them RM13.12. F**k you A**stro. Your technical slip-ups are so screwed up, but your billing system is sooooo efficient.

I'm not superstitious, and this could happen to me on any other day and I'd still whine the same. It's just, I didn't feel bizarrely spooked until it was all over and I thought of the Friday the 13th. Anyone else had a bad day like me today?

THURSDAY NIGHT

We usually spend our Thursday nights at home, coz I try set up a good example to Nunu to read the surah Yaasin after Maghrib while waiting for Isya' prayers. It crossed my mind to be able to spend some time at mosques again, but since having Nunu around, I never do that anymore. Heck, solat terawikh pun asyik ponteng.

But she's grown up now and I kept thinking, when is the best time for me to start bringing her to mosques? I see people bringing babies for prayers and I never thought it's possible for me to do the same, but I know I have to start somewhere.

So last Thursday night, the opportunity came and I just grabbed it. I'm attending a tahlil event in Masjid Negeri Pulau Pinang organised by DPMMPP, marking its 50th anniversary. Not wanting to be stuck in the jam, we set our journey as early as 3 pm, picking Zara up at her home. She made me wear baju kurung. Ugh. Zara looked gorgeous as usual, all decked out in her shiny new baju kurung, while I decided to wear this old rag that I had since I was 15! Stupid move, coz the rubber bands at the waist weren't that elastic anymore and I had to use pins as I didn't have that much time to decide on something else to wear.

The traffic and the ferry ride were smooth during non rush hours, so we had plenty of time to waste. We hadn't had japanese food for quite a while (those pre-packed sushis at Tesco don't count!) and settled on Sakae Sushi at Gurney Plaza since the food are reasonably priced. Imagine two pieces of nigiri sushi (salmon) on a green plate costs only RM1.90? And they were generously cut and fresh too (sorry forgot to take pics... too hungry!). We regretted ordering other food coz we could fill ourselves with just those addictive raw 'cat food'! But our orders were just as good. Even the green tea was very aromatic, which I think had a tinge of seaweed flavour to it. I don't know, I could be wrong.

Sakae chawamushi (RM3.90) which Nunu had. So-so, we've had better.

My yakitori (chicken satay in layman's term!) - only RM7.90 for 3 sticks. And the chicken pieces were huge okay, a lot bigger by the famous satay Kajang standard.

Zara's goma salmon donburi (RM11.90) , basically just rice with lotsa chopped raw salmon and sesame seed.

Zara is this sushi-sashimi-fishy girl, haha. On the other hand, I'm a meat and chicken kinda girl. I gotta have 'em grilled or stir-fried, therefore I always go for teppanyaki or teriyaki. I'm on this special protein diet, which is perfect for me coz I don't feel like it's too much hard work since I never liked having that much rice anyway. My diet now consist of primarily lean chicken (baked or grilled), dory cooked in many ways, tofu soup, yoghurt, eggs, canned tunas and a range of veges and fruits, the kind that keep well and don't need much peeling and cutting.

It was hard for me to stay away from potatoes and fried food, but the beauty about this diet is, if I practice portion control, I can have that fried chicken or yong tau foo! I can have protein snacks in between meals too, so that I'd never feel hungry. Gimme a few weeks and see if I can pull this off and lose a couple of pounds, alright?

Cheeky pose.

Oh, going back to the story, Nunu was being very trying that evening. Although she wasn't really misbehaving, she kept wanting to go to the loo all the time! And I thought she has learnt to hold her pee already. The first time we went before we had our meal, and we were lucky the rest room was nearby and the handicapped cubicle wasn't occupied (I always, always go for the handicapped cubicles). The second time she wanted to pee, I had to practically drag her along while frantically search for the restroom in the crowded basement floor. We had no choice but use the squat toilet and she accidently sprayed on my shoes, which made me go "FAAARRRKK!" under my breath.

The third time, she complained that she wanted to pee again as I was buckling her to her seat, but she just went like 20 minutes before that! Dia tahan kencing ke apa? Probably that lah coz the 2nd time we went, the toilet there was really smelly and she was holding her nose, hihi. We couldn't go back coz I already paid for the parking coupon and we had less than 15 minutes to get out of there, so I told her to please hold and we'll look for a toilet at the mosque.

The traffic was beginning to get heavy and we arrived at the mosque pretty late. I tried to look for the best parking space nearest to the toilet but there weren't any directions. I took the wrong decision to park at the worst parking space available and we ran to look for the rest oom. Alas, we didn't make it in time and we had an accident at the mosque's front steps! How humiliating, Zara and I were horrified! Couldn't blame Nunu coz she tahan for so long, I wanted to knock my head for not getting her some pull-ups at the drugstore or something. My bad.

Anyway, I changed her into her baju kurung and luckily there were lotsa mops lying around (and still very little signboards around). Some men were curious to see me mopping the front steps (the VIPs were going to arrive at those same steps soon!) and one guard/caretaker was nice enough to come up to me and offered his help! For all the small misfortunes I encountered, thank goodness for the kind soul, coz I haven't performed my Asar prayers yet and it was close to 7 pm already.

(Gosh, Nunu's pee story lasted 4 paragraphs! This is not a rant, ok guys, just a reminder to me and those reading here to be always prepared with pull-ups, no matter how you trust you toddlers to hold their pee!)

When half of my problems were settled, finally we entered the main prayer hall and I tell you, we were dumb-struck. The place was very cool and spacious and immediately we felt blessed to be able to perform ibadah there. Nunu was very 'jakun' and could hardly contain herself to be in the new environment, but I did my best to keep her from being too boisterous or out of line. All she did was walk around being friendly with others, pull their prayer clothes and basically fidget like a little caterpillar she is, but a warning pinch on the butt from time to time was needed for her to sit still for a short period. We stayed there from before 7 to 9 something, after the tahlil, yaasin and Isya' prayers, and praise to God, she didn't make a scene. She enjoyed herself a lot after I've changed her again in pants and T-shirt and had a fabulous dinner provided by the organizers- nasi tomato, ayam masak merah, samah daging and kerabu timun! Believe it or not, I managed to eat only the chicken and beef. The rice looked very tempting, but it wasn't difficult for me to resist it. Yeehaa.

The best part of the night was, I had to eat at the main table, and Nunu got to meet her Tok Abah who were seated with other dignitaries, and even salamed the TYT Pulau Pinang and the Vice Chancellor of USM, Prof. Dato' Zulkifli.

All in all, I think she's ready for mosques. She'll learn to behave in time, I hope but I'll have to be ready with pull-ups!

A HODGE PODGE POST

Well, well, now I know the best distraction tactic for a sickly Nunu is actually an Indonesian kiddy mini series called Kangen Rindu 1/2 Mati, purportedly a spin off of the famous movie My Heart. Must be the cute abang-abang and kakak-kakak cinta monyet storyline. I've been pestering her to take her fever medication and fussing over her body temperature when she irritatedly told me to "go play computer".

It's also funny nowadays that she recognizes an 'Endon' song that's playing on the radio. Sikit-sikit cinta, cinta. And she would ask me the title of every single song, and I'd better know the answer coz if I don't, all hell breaks loose and she'll scream at me until I make up a title of the song.

So, what else is new with the girl? Talking to her is an absolute delight, I say she's a pro now at conversing coherently (in Malay mainly, if she speaks in English she makes it sound like she's speaking in a classroom, so fake), although sometimes she can tersasul a bit. Like davila for vanilla, and pesotong for sepotong, those kinda things. Ouh, listening her to talk back at you is absolute horror sometimes, the smart aleck. Although, it was funny at the time when she told off her father that his breath was stinkier than hers. Hehe. Smart gal.

And what's new with the girl's momma, you ask? Well, if it's anybody's concern, I'm still struggling with my personality makeover, but the self image upgrade is easier than I initially thought.

Probably the few pounds lost during ramadhan was a welcoming surprise, and suddenly I'm more comfortable in my own skin to slip into more current attire (you may not agree, but I say current, not fashionable ;p) I've taken interest in better fitting jeans, cottony soft and loose T-shirts (and I don't have to look for them at the men's department or the maternity line now that I know that factory outlets offer larger sized garments for ladies!) and nike casual shoes, a pre-university look that I never thought I would backtrack to.

I'm taking better care of my health and skin (for which I've receive compliments now, something I wouldn't have dreamed of 15 years ago) and I'm even experimenting with *gasp!* make-up! Y'know, liquid foundation, eye shadows, eyeliner, the works. And ooh, mascara, how I hate wearing mascara, but I still put it on for inexplicable reasons. In the words of my Kelantanese grandma, dok jangok (loosely translated as busy preening and primping)

But the most unbelievable thing I did was *drumroll* wearing the selendang style hijab in public! Great gosh almighty, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing this if you told me to a couple of days ago, reason being my dongga head obviously. Funny how I used to shun showing my massive forehead and wide cheeks by manipulating my hijab in perfectly 'concorde-like' angle possible, that in the event of failure, such disappointing and unruly 'kelepet' (the folds at the sides of the hijab) would warrant a declaration of a 'bad tudung day' or the having the paranoia of tudung malfunction all day long.

I don't look half as bad as I thought, do I? To face the big bad judgemental world in all my dongga glory. Do I?

RIBBIT! RIBBIT!

Once upon a time, a handsome prince was cast under the spell of a very lazy evil witch who enchanted him into a slimy green frog and was doomed for life to perch atop a mountain so blue.

The frog prince up close

For centuries he sat there guarding the sun and the moon, until one day a king's daughter by the name of Princess Nunu shall come to his rescue and set him free ... *screeching pause button sound*

Eh, enough lah with the fairy tale konon! If I procrastinate any longer, the baby whom this cake was intended for would outgrow all the baby stuff!

Finally, baby Ieman's diaper cake was completed last weekend. It took me weeks to get this done!

I set out to make this diaper cake a day after Nunu's cousin, Ieman was born, but what can I say, I'm one ambitious gal looking for trouble (cari nahas la tu!) Whatever made me think that if I can bake a cake, I can pull off a diaper cake as well? It's not as easy as you think! Hats off to W&F towkeys who came up with pretty and perfect (and I do mean perfect, no creases and pins sticking out) cakes every time. I hope this lousy and sloppy cake doesn't not offend the association of diaper cake entrepreneurs out there.

Goes to show I have no caliber to turn this pitiful attempt into a business venture. Same goes to my cuppies, no commercial value at all, bohoohoo!

But I'm just glad the cake holds together and does not topple.

It's ugly, but you bet I'm proud of myself.

MRS SPUDHEAD

God, oh god, when will this gunduness and 'kentang'ness end?

My first run with bad luck started when a whole carton of Nunu's milk was spilled on my car's floor mat and carpet on Saturday evening, and I've forgotten all about it until there was an unmistakable stench coming from the interior of the car. It wasn't anyone's fault the milk spilled, apparently some kinda physics-action were at work when you leave an opened carton of milk with the straw in it in a car under the hot sun.

Sunday evening was spent washing and scrubbing the floor mats, spraying half a bottle of Febreez on the carpeting and rubbing milk spots off the leather seats, but the stink still won't go away. This happened once a long time ago, and I've tried spraying air fresheners (bad mistake), putting daun pandan inside the car (didn't work) and airing the car under the sun (the smell got worse!) I *think* the only trick that did it was to send the car off to the professionals to get rid of the smell, but that would cost me forty bux :((

To make matters worse, as I was cleaning the car, I noticed that my car's road tax has expired, TWO freaking weeks ago!!! Lord, I remember I went through countless roadblocks since that and confidently telling myself that it's not a problem. Haha, today I'm afraid chicken shit.

So back to the stinky problem, yesterday evening, I didn't park the car in the garage, but in front of the kitchen door instead (coz I was going back and forth in the house to get stuff and clean the car) and I left the windows open hoping that the smell would dissipate faster (but I did intend to park the car later that night in the garage).

Surely, luck was playing tricks on me coz around 9.30 pm it started to rain SUDDENLY and heavily pulak tu. As soon as I realized gundu me left the car exposed with the windows down , I dashed outside leaving Nunu alone in the house to get the car out of there and inside the garage (yeah yeah, irresponsible me, but I did tell her to stay put unless she wants frogs come jumping inside the house once she opens her mouth and cry)

Things were a little too late, the whole front seats were soaked and there were small puddles in the cracks here and there. Nunu was an absolute darling, however, she didn't cry, but I caught her hiding behind the kitchen door (which I left ajar so that she could see me get inside the car and park it elsewhere, but the grill door was closed) coz frogs indeed were trying to jump inside the house :)

I spent this morning cleaning up the mess in the car. Coz I left the windows down last night, tiny mozzies have found their way inside the car, and I had a hard time swatting them away before I left for work this morning. They left finally, but not before giving Nunu and me a few bites in the arms.

It didn't get any better when I called up the car's agent to settle the road tax and insurance. He asked me for the car's grant, which he said he has passed to my dad the last time he handled the road tax. I corrected him and said, no, you only passed to us the insurance and road tax, no grant. The bugger said he'll check with the bank again and will inform me later. It's already 3 pm now, and I'm still without the new road tax. I just called him, and he said the bank people are busy so he'll get back to me later :(

End of rant.

BFG #2: SNAP OUT OF IT ALREADY!

Ugh.

Verbal constipation.

Too weary to express my thoughts.

Too worn out to compose ideas.

A SPECIAL FRIDAY THE 13TH ENTRY

It happened in between dreams, probably between 2-5 am because the air-conditioner would be automatically off by 5 am, and through my cloudy eyes, I could see the lights were still blinking.

I was blissfully dreaming when I was jolted from my sleep & couldn't move a muscle. My entire body seemed heavy, my chest tight & I was gasping for breath. In front of me loomed an ominous whitish figure floating quietly. The presence of evil terrified me, I tried screaming but to no avail. All I could do was recite some verses in my heart as I struggled to free myself. It seemed so real, but at the same time I'm not sure whether I was conscious or still in a state of dreaming.

The next thing I remember was slipping straight into another dream, where upon waking up, I mulled over what happened the night before & found a deep gash on my side of my leg.

I finally realized it was all a nightmare when I woke up for real, and was relieved to find there was no wound.

Scary or not? Did I give you the spooks? I'm sure most people have experienced this before. Relax, it's not a paranormal occurrence. Thanks to someone who enlightened me about sleep paralysis (SP), I understand there's a perfectly scientific explanation behind all these 'tahyul'.

Thing is something new for me, sleep paralysis. All these while, if it happens, I would just shrug it off & pass it as a 'mainan tidur' or a 'sleep trick'. Some people who shared their experiences with me believed they were being 'usik' (teased) by specters & spirits, while if I didn't know any better, I'd be convinced I came face to face with 'hantu hempap'!

It is actually a little bit more complicated than that. Sleep paralysis happens when your mind wakes up, usually still in semi-REM state, but the body is still relaxed (or asleep). This will result in the brain panicking that the body is truly paralyzed.

And get this : the most remarkable symptoms of SP are the accompanying audio and/or visual hallucinations often causing extreme terror in it's sufferer, who would believe that they are being visited by malevolent beings or evil presences!

A quick research led me to a wikipedia page that listed cultural references regarding this stupefying phenomena. From Asian folklores to Russian beliefs to medieval English theories, SP transcends ethnical, cultural & religious barriers. What is more fascinating is that people believe in almost the same thing - the justification of paranormal activities - demonic & ghostly visitations, witches, possessions, out-of-body experiences, alien abductions, djinns & 'iblis's. Even those in modern societies believe in the 'old hag syndrome'.

The depiction of the old hag

The Nightmare, Henry Fuseli, 1781

Also, from here, I learnt that it usually happens if you sleep on your back with face facing upwards (which is true in my case), within dark surroundings (your brain plays tricks on you when it's dark :) and if you are stressed or sleep-deprived (true, true).

I think this is the reason why as a child, my Tok always told me to sleep on my side, or if I'm sleeping on my back, I should bend my leg a little over to the sides and never sleep spread eagled or terbongkang tak ingat dunia, coz apparently, iblis suka kat orang tidur macam gini!

So, I hope this is educational for you as it is to me. If Mama Sarah is reading this, I hope you're not spooked.

And for that friend who gave such an insouciant response & was so unimpressed by my attempt to dish out a delectable ghostly tale, I owe you my thanks.

A SOUL TO BARE

The lullaby "Rockabye Baby" creeps the hell out of me. It's a little violent, don't you think? I skip that part when I read to Nunu her nursery rhymes book. "Humpty Dumpty" too.

Why? Because they remind me of the cardiac arrest moments I had when I was careless with Nunu.

I never told anyone about this before, but I think it's time for me to face the truth and come clean- or forever will I be wretched mess.

I was a *gulp* negligent mother. When Nunu was about 2 and a half months old, I dropped Nunu. The carrier slid from the passenger seat unto the floor when I hit the brakes to avoid colliding with a car that stopped suddenly in front of mine.

Accidents happen in a split second, but the startled look on her face froze in my memory forever. She took a terrible tumble and bumped her head on the bottom side of the glove compartment.

Of course I was panic stricken, I had no idea how I could still maneuver the car to the curb.

Every parent who witnessed his or her own child getting hurt knows how painful the feeling is to know that the blames falls squarely on you for not being extra careful. I cried along with her and pacified her, while my insides tore apart. She calmed down within seconds, gulping milk in between sobs.

I checked her head and body for injuries - no bumps but she had a faint bluish bruise on her forehead & the bridge of her nose. I thanked God because she resumed to act normal afterwards, smiling & giggling and fascinated by the cars zooming by. I kept track of her behavior for days after, and alhamdulillah - she was fine. But my guilt and pain lasted for months that I vowed never to let anything like that happen to her again.

The incident, the first wake up call every parent had to go through, taught me to be extra vigilant when Nunu's around. She never had a serious fall or head bonks again until she was ready to walk. Keeping an eye on a mobile baby is hard work, and oftentimes she fell due to her rough and tumble nature.

Once, on the tip of her toes, she grabbed some ribbons on Martian's bowling trophy (which is really a bowling pin) and it rolled on her head. Just last night, she tripped while trying to get on the sofa and nose-dived on the carpet with a scary thud. And the day before, she fell and landed on the back of her head because she stepped on a tiny wet spot where her sippy cup dripped. You know it will happen again, but what stops you from beating yourself up again and again every time it happens? Nothing.

We were told that babies are pretty resilient and have the amazing capacity to walk away unscathed from accidents. I have mental images of an infant falling onto the gravel in a scuffle between a kidnapper and his rescuers (he's fine according to the people of 'Most Amazing Videos'), a baby girl in a cute pink outfit (and a headband to boot) found drenched and wailing in a bag fished out from a river in Mexico or somewhere (and she's OK too according to Ms Oprah) and more miracle stories I've found on the net about parents telling us their babies are OK even after falling headlong down the stairs.

Even so, at the back of your head, you couldn't help thinking about that relative you have that has been damaged for life because she had a fall from the bed when she was little. Or the mother on the front page of HM weeping for her child whom suffered head trauma after falling from a hammock or tripping over a 'bendul'.

A mother can only do so much to ensure the safety of her children. But even if you live in a fully child proofed home, kids can get into trouble in a blink of an eye. So, what can we do? OPEN EYES BIG-BIG LOR.

Phew, I feel better after this confession. I'm writing this as a reminder to myself to keep a better eye on Nunu and to not take things for granted. I should never leave her playing by herself. I should check where her hands and legs are before I close the car door. Check floors for wet spots. Close all doors especially the bathroom doors. Be more responsible.

Back to the nursery rhymes, let's see whether I've got over my trauma and have the guts to sing it to Nunu tonight.
Rockabye baby on the tree tops
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall
And down will go baby, cradle and all
But I'll leave this part, something that I've found on a twisted website, apparently someone with a wicked sense of humour added this the to the rhymes:
Mommy will make it look like
An accident
And a fall.
Sicko.

BFG: STARSTUCK

No, that is not the infamous Miss Typo, that is exactly what i said to Yasmin Ahmad when I shook her hands!

"Oh my god, I can't believe I'm talking to you. Blablabla... Look at me, I gushing. I'm so starstuck *wince* starstruck! Ha, cakap pun dah tak betul."

She just flashed those megawatts smile at me. She must have met thousands of flushing, sputtering, tongue slipping groupies like me.

She was at the ADWAVE 2007 dinner that night (another post on this! wait ah!) and I waited until I was about to leave to get myself together and asked for a picture with her. I thought I'd kick myself silly if I make a fool of myself in front of her, but I know a lot of people who would really kick me if I chicken out and didn't grab the opportunity to pose with the Malaysia's hottest film maker.

When I told her that she has many fans in Singapore, she said that Mukhsin is opening in Singapore's big screen tomorrow.

To Moby, who didn't believe in me, who thought that I'm just another woman blogger who has no work to do, but lie in her blog & create disunity in her country. Eat your heart out!

Isn't she lovely? Unlike me, she knows her 'angle'.

THE GUNDU POST (oh ya and the anniversary post - a belated one of course)

Malaysian don't use the word 'gundu' much, not due to the indecent connotation but probably coz it's a largely Singaporean term. Well, thanks to PCK, the word's shtuck in my head.

I am feeling overly 'gundu' because not only did I miss my wedding anniversary, I couldn't even remember the date. I mean, what type of woman forgets her own anniversary?? I woke up one day and immediately I was paralysed with the thought that my memory is failing me to this damaging extent, "Dear god, when is my anniversary???"

I nudged Martian and said, "Yang, we missed our anniversary lah."

"When?" he asked, voice muffled in thick morning halitus.

"Errr, a few days alreadylah."

"It's OK, nanti we celebratelah."

So celebrate we did later that weekend. Supper at Damiral's (nothing fancy - cheap but delicious food, excellant ambiance, no food pics :p ) and got each other gifts that we are pretty much happy about (although my gift pinches on my bunions- ouch!)

I also forgot to bring Nunu for her shots. Now I'm afraid to go to the community clinic unless my ears can tahan the nurse menceceh nanti.

So must fork out some money and bring her to a private clinic. Speaking of clinics, we were lucky we found a 24-hour clinic near our town early yesterday morning. Nunu was afflicted with a pretty bad case of colic at midnight and was in a great deal of pain. We drove around the Kepala Batas town looking for a clinic (Martian hissed under his breath that even the PM's hometown is so 'ulu'!) and finally found one at Bertam after he made a few calls to his friends.

She's OK now, after her physio session with her Abah with the magical healing hands :)

Best ah bunyik bruppp... brupp....

Then we had to visit Grandma Doc pulak this morning because her pet-pet is all red due to all that poo action :(

Turns out to be, the culprit is BANANAS. The nanny reports to me that Nunu ate 4 small pisang emas the day before. And she never liked bananas before this.

Sekali taram 4, mana tak sakit perut, nak oiii?!

OK, strike bananas off from her menu from now on. Stick to the nasi goreng telur. She seems to enjoy that very much these days. Tak main la bubur-bubur sekarang.

And...oh ya! It actually falls on the 13th December. Hehe *slaps forehead*

I should get a ticker or something.

CARELESS OL' ME

I think there's a need of an announcement. Since I've misplaced my digicam and I've given up looking for it, there'll be no picture updates for the moment. I'm totally, totally broke and won't be able to buy a new camera unless all my friggin' debtors decide to pay up before raya & I'll be able to give myself (and my staff too) a big fat raya bonus :)

Anyway, if anyone has a spare digicam and is thinking of 'giving away' their old camera, think of me pls ! (esp that person who just got his much-awaited spanking new kick ass Canon D400, eh 400D)

Err... itu Sony bagi I ajelah!
