Ever since my favourite Danny Boy was booted out of AI, I never watched the show anymore. All I have to do is search for the contestants' performances that I'm interested to see on youtube and I'm satisfied.
The song Jason sang this week put a whimsical smile on my face. I remember dedicating this song in my journal to my English teacher, Miss Shal (Chech, remember those research sessions for the debate team with her?)
It is a common practice in boarding schools, for students to keep a journal or a diary in order to improve their writing and command of English, and I took this assignment fervently. It was Miss Shal who convinced me that I'm a 'story-teller' and that she looked forward to reading my journal every week. It was very fun for a 13 year old to spill her heart and guts to a 'reader' who commented and quipped every now and then in between those lines of words saturated with teenage angst and naive exuberance (hmm, more or less like a blog, huh?). Of all the wonderful teachers I had during the 5 years I was in boarding school, I think she had the most influence over me. We were quite close and I even spent some late nights in her room helping her with SPM exam papers marking!
Anyhoo, I didn't know the whole song then, because, well it's partly in French but I've heard this song often enough on my mom's car playlist to catch the English parts and the cute melody. So when I 'wrote' to Miss Shal, I always started with "Miss Shal, my belle" :D
There isn't anything substantial about this post really ( should have told you guys to just skip it) other than I love this song and my most favourite teacher on this whole wide world.
Gosh, I sound so adolescent, kan?

I love Miss Shal's classes and activities. She even found an excuse for us go to Federal 2 to watch Hum Aapke Hain Koun. For a little dose of Indian wedding which was aired about 10 minutes throughout the movie. Heh.
Anyway, I love Beatles' Michelle...
