AUTOBOTS

This photo is a testament of not only my horrible, horrible cooking, but also my horrible, horrible photography (which I don't give a rat's ass anyway :)

In case you wonder, what in the world are those ugly looking pieces of rotting sponges? They're bread, OK. Bread, with stuffings of sausages, white onions, tomatoes & mayo. Kept together with toothpicks, dipped in eggs & breadcrumbs & fried to disastrous results.

It's one of those Saturday mornings that I give myself a day off (before Nunu the anak dara wakes up at 10am) and feel ambitious enough to attempt a breakfast spread for Martian. Coincidently Farah & Shamin spent the night at Tok's. So bad luck to them.

"Sedap tak roti tu, Farah? Shamin? Sedap, kan? Suruh lah mama buat OK."

They just nodded agreeably. Too polite to complain. Poor things!

In case you wonder, everything I fry will turn out this colour. My family are used to this. If chicken/nugget/popiah this colour, then Anne must have fried this.

Anyway, Martian loved the bread. I don't know if he just wanted to please me (truly, I can't tell. He's THAT good) or the appalling colour aside, the bread did taste good enuff to eat. He asked where I got the recipe from. I said nowhere. I just made it up. And he lifted his eyebrow two three times.

Maybe next week, I can try other stuffing pulak. Really, it's juz a matter of imagination *perasan*.

Oh, to those who's crazy enough to think this is a pretty good idea for a breakfast and want to try out the recipe, be my guest. Please be better at frying than me.

If served to kids, take out the toothpicks before serving.

On second thought, take them out to whomever you serve it to. Count.

You don't want people to complain your 'roti goreng' has 'bones'.

Hee hee, I've made a steak that actually bounced off the floor when it fell. I love the advice about toothpicks! Will keep that in mind if/when I cook next time. :-)

"Coincidently Farah & Shamin spent the night at Tok's. So bad luck to them." <-- probably they knew what's cooking and decided to run away! lucky them. LOLOLOL

"Anyway, Martian loved the bread" <--- please ask your hubby to teach me how to fake it convincingly :) i need to learn!

LOLOL

only joking anne, your breakfast look very creatively created (who would have thunk to use toothpicks, seriously). auntie de has something similar as well. it's something like: cut a square hole in a bread. put the bread in a frying pan. put butter in the square hole, then break an egg in the hot butter.... you'll end up getting fried bread, with fried egg in the middle -- genius!

Coming from someone who grew up eating stuff like fried bread dipped in eggs and plain rice with eggs soaked with soy sauce, I'd stuff your roti gorengs in my mouth anytime! :D
