SWEET 16 UPDATE: USTAZAH NUNU

Isn't it exciting that your child never cease to amaze you, even with their tiniest actions?

She surprised me yesterday. While getting her ready to take a bath, I told her to quit whining & call for her royal rubber ducky which was perched on top of a soap dish. She did so by exclaiming "Come!" complete with the hand gesture. I tell you, my mouth dropped a big O like a dumbstruck idiot.

The nanny too get daily surprises from her. Like when she got into a 'squabble' with Damiral (the nanny's son) for disturbing him while doing his school work, up went the lower lip covering her upper lip (we call this the 'popeye look') & she said, "Melampau!" (the nanny told her she is 'melampau' (out of bound) at times when she's being stubborn)

She gave the nanny such a delight too when she refers herself as 'kakak' (big sister).

Nanny: Ni siapa? (Who is this?) *points at self*
Nunu : Nab! (short for Mak Nab, lol)
Nanny: Ni siapa? *points at Damiral*
Nunu : A-bang!
Nanny: Ni siapa? *points at nanny's hubby*
Nunu : A-bah!
Nanny: Ni siapa? *points at Nunu*
Nunu : Kaa-kak!
Everybody : *hee-haw*

Perasan kan? Bila masa awak ada adik, Nunu oi! However, she usually never repeats the things she says. If we ask her again who she is, she'll test our patience & say she is the Nab, the Abah, the Mama, the Abang, so on & so forth.

In her favourite book, she identifies the rhymes page "Little Bo Peep" as "beep", "Little Jack Horner" as "jekk", "Mary had a Little Lamb" as "lumb" & "Polly Put the Kettle On" as "Ohn" (hmm, maybe the name Mary & Polly are a little complex). She tries to sing along with whatever words she can mimic (her London Bridge routine is quite entertaining) but of course, she rarely lets me finish with one rhyme before she turns to the next page & shrieks to make me start singing the next one.

A typical nursery rhymes session will sound like this, "Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb, *Naaak!*Little Bo Peep has lost her sheeps, & doesn't know where to find them, *Nakkkkkk! Little Tommy Tucker sings for his supper, *Jekkkkk!* Little Jack Horner sat in a corner, eating his Christmas *Ooohnn!* Polly put the kettle on, kettle on..."

Sigh...

Nunu starts to recognise some of the cartoon characters on her cupboard, so each time after her bath while I towel her dry next to the cupboard, she occupies her time pointing at the ducks, the bear-bears, the rab-beets & the ball-lums. Before, I used to have to run after her stark naked & dripping wet around her room.

Nunu, I mean - not me!@#!!*^!

I also put up an alphabet poster on the wall & she enjoys reciting the alphabet (in her own words of course) but she has got the tune right already. No more pitching problems, hehe (ni tgk Akademi Fantasia banyak sgt la ni!)

She begins to doodle on paper around 3 weeks when I saw her lying flat on her tummy & trying to write with intense concentration. She must have seen the nanny's boys doing their homework in that position. I'm not so keen on letting her hold a pencil or a pen for fear that they'll poke her eyes, so I finally got her that doodle board. She's getting pretty good with those shape sorters as well.

These are the latest pics. Still can't get over how funny she looks in tudung.

Smile sikit.....

goodness, how i laughed at your "dramatic pause". you are such a funny writer anne. praises to how clever nunu is - i can't believe that only several months ago, i was reading how Nunu was learning to walk. Now she's so articulate! what a clever girl.

ucue & mynn, tq for the praises.

It's flattering (and scary) if u think Nunu is clever, when I think she is just showing some positive development (and being her amusing self).

Anyway, the post is supposed to be much longer, there's a few other antic of hers that i'd like to share, but i wish i'm like mr.mohan (err mereka yg ada astro jer tau siapa mr mohan) "i got time!"

having two kids of my own I could really relate how you feel anne, seeing new tricks our kids could do - it's fascinating. i wish they wouldn't pick up so many bad words though (doh!)

mynn, she like to say "paw-dawh" when we almost reach our home, when she sees some landmarks around. But i don;t like it coz it sounds like "bo-doh"! I know, im paranoid :)

alya, she never really said that to me. Seems that anything tht i try to record fell flat on my face lah. She wont usually repeat anything she says. Ikut suka dia bila nak cakap :) but I wont give up. If i got sthing really good on camera, then i'll show u ok! Hmm should i teach her the 'fishy song'? I know YOU are good at it!

hana, ya hor? really difficult to get a nice one from her. Suka buat funny face ah, or really bored face nowadays

along, si nunu ni kan, whatever we try to put on her head to cover her 'botak'ness, we must puji2 her over the top sikit. Baru dia perasan :D

mamasarah, every child is her/his mom's sweetie :)

ermm my pipi yg kematu ni pun tembam & comel jugak tau!
