FEEL GOOD FRIDAY #4 - THE LOST AND FOUND POEM

Initially, I didn't have any material for today's FGF, until for some weird reason I felt like doing some ego-surfing for fun during lunch. Apart from findings of fellow namesakes on online community pages (and accidently bumping into some 'unauthorized' chatrooms!), there is one heartfelt discovery that almost rendered me speechless.

A long, long, LONG time ago, I penned a poem in my journal when I was feeling down in the dumps ( a couple actually, but this one got published). Now, Dyanna & Mynn, do you believe me now when I say that I was a moody, broody, angsty teenager? Ironically, the poem brought me some jubilation when it was featured in NST's teen section after my English teacher, who read my journal (and every other student too in English class) badgered me to have some sent in.

The paper paid me sixty bucks for it :)

Somehow, over the years, the article was misplaced and I have forgotten all about it, until today.

What's so funny is that, the silly poem that I wrote out of sheer frustration and during my lowest point in life, actually made an impact on somebody's life. What's even funnier, is that, this person thinks that the poem, albeit simple, is I quote, "possesses magic" and indescribably beautiful"! I want to laugh and cry at the same time!

Does that make your day or what? First got a fantastic dedication from a cheeky friend, wonderful birthday wishes (more than I ever received for the past 5 years, seriously!) - and now this.

How can I ever thank this person? For cherishing my 'creative property' and sharing it with others in her chat space.

To Starblue, you must be the only person in the whole wide world who thinks this poem is something. Truth is, I'm no poet and the poem is an indirectly ripped off version of my favourite 'Smile' song :D

CRY - by Anne Faudzi (and I don't mind if she thinks I'm a guy, coz I get that all the time, but what type of guy would write about 'crying'? Beats me *shrugs shoulder*)

Cry, if you stumble into a mess,
Cry, if u think it is best.
There's no use to stop those tears,
Just let it out and release your fears.

You can cry when things get rough,
Just cry, no need to act tough.
So what if you have puffy eyes and runny nose?
You'll feel a lot better and composed.

Because you can cry but never quit
Don't you ever claim defeat
Take your time to sort things out
There's nothing to be scared about

You can cry when things get cruel
Or on the days when you feel awful
Look for a place to listen to your soul
You'll find the strength you need to hold.

It's normal to feel sad, it's human to cry
Sometimes it's not even hard to try
Trust your feelings, cry a little bit
But it doesn't mean you have to quit.

It's a private matter, your heart and you
A sniffle, a sob, whatever you do
Remember that you are not weak
Or some kind of sentimental freak.

Because you know you're not a fool
To somehow lose your nerves and cool
The pain doesn't last, the despair's a while,
After a good cry, just carry on - and SMILE.
