I wouldn't say I was watching the US presidential race closely (I only knew the race has come to an end yesterday morning via FB) but I do have a lot of respect for BO.
And last night someone's statement that made such an impact for me. He said, if the President of a country can change, why can't we make a change for ourselves?
It's true that we're so comfortable with our lives that we forget to have visions and dreams. We settle for mediocrity and we're terrified of change. Guess what, everything is on constant change around us; the people around us, the economy, the weather even, etc, and if we don't do something differently, we'll be stuck in a rut.
And for the record, I'm not referring to our local political scene. The topic is beaten to death, but change has to start with you. Do something to change your life. And if you're happy just the way you are, quit whining.
I've found this inspirational video by Will.i.am. I hope there's something good out of it for you. It certainly is for me.

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.
We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. (We want change.)
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon
are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA;
we will remember that there is something happening in America;
that we are not as divided as our politics suggests;
that we are one people; we are one nation;
and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story
with three words that will ring from coast to coast;
from sea to shining sea: Yes We Can.
Yes we can.

p/s: and for the record, I'm not America-worshiping, but I do believe the power of the dream and inspiration.

i love this entry! thanks for reminding me!!
kak ana, really? well, thank YOU! you're always a source of inspiration for me too u know!
everybody should read - who moved my cheese- so that we can look at change as something that's not to be afraid of.
dyanna, pinjam that book bleh?
In general, we human are afraid of the unknown. And that is the only thing you get out of any changes - the unknown, the unthinkable.
Some changes are good some are not. But if you have tried and life doesnt seem to agree, perhaps, life is trying to tell u something?
I always believe that if you are comfortable, its time to change. :)
As for the presidency of US and comparison to the Malaysian environment, dunno if Malaysia is ready for that kind of changes. But if no one tries, we will never know, kan?
terpanjang pulak post... hehe..
j.a.d, you're absolutely right. but i always hold true to what my mom says, whatever decision you take, make sure you think of the Almighty and refer to him.
and you mean, when you feel comfortable or too comfortable, then it's time to change? haha when life is treating you good, surely you wouldn't want to change a thing. bila tgh susah, baru la kelam kabut nak take action or wake up from your dream.
Yes, we did it!
Aunty Anne, just wanna let you know we received your kad raya mid last week :) Thanks :))
alya, hah! you finally did! better late than never rite?
too comfortable in your own confort zone that you are unwilling to try something new.. just in case it turns out bad.. the curse of the unknown.
example la kan. the relationship tu nampak mcm ok, tak ada gaduh2, cintan cintun tapi sure ada terselit rasa bosan kat mana2 sbb dah rutin hari2 dok buat benda yg sama. u are too comfortable doing the routine that changes may disrupt the flow. tapi mana tau kot2 the changes tu akan buat your life lagi better, happier?
or duit 10 ribu dlm bank every month will definitely make you feel good but what if boleh tambah lagi satu 0 kat belakang. sure lagi best rasa kan?
or sorang anak nampak mcm best je, just nice for some people, tapi kalau tambah sorang lagi, double the fun.. changes gak tu.. haha..
j.a.d, tidak ku faham exampla yg ketiga ittew, hihihihi
