I was flipping through a stack of 2 weeks worth of Harian Metro The Star and found a hard time digesting a piece of news.

A father, was sentenced to 56months in jail, charged with "culpable homicide not amounting to murder" of his son.
56 months, that *tap tap calculator* four and a half years in the slammer.
The boy suffered severe head injuries and autopsy showed signs of physical abuse & that he was beaten with a blunt object.
The father admitted to spanking & beating the child for defecating & urinating around the house, despite his several warnings.
I couldn't possibly imagine, how could someone lose his cool, or his mind, for that?
And, oh yeah, the boy - was just a YEAR old.

I guess when the father turns senile and starts doing the same things, his son can return the favour.
i think the dad needs to start a blog to vent out his feelings rather than beating a human being.

some people just loose it. pls check his mental health, maybe a fuse or two has burnt in there..

Huh? Is this the chinese man who beat his son tu? 56 months je dia dapat? WTF??!!! Should whack him the way he whacked his son. In fact, I think all abusers should be abused the same way they abused their victims. Sheeeesshhh.. what's this world coming to?
encik ramlee, sadly the boy never saw to his 2nd birthday. However, if he did survive, would they boy suffer from trauma & become just like his father & abuse his own child? then it's a vicious never ending cycle. I bet that happens a lot already :S

dyanna, the line is blurred when it comes to what is fair & not. Most of these abusers can pledge insanity & escape punishment altogether. It's sad wht the world has become. And dont even mention abt that crazed lady in Japan who stabbed a little girl just bcoz the mother didnt let the lady to hug her daughter. *chills*
mynn, that's what I thought. FYI, the sentence carries a maximum of 10 yrs in jail. He pleaded guilty & he got away with 4.6 years. I hope he repents, that's all.

Cannot hear stories like this. Make me wonder why these people had kids in the first place.

sometimes the judge will look at all angles before sentencing. Charging him with culpable homiside means there was never any intention to commit murder. Maybe during the police investigation there was a chain of event which the newspaper conveniently didn't report because it was not sensational. However, that does not mean there was any excuse for hammering a child to death. Taking care of a child is stressful but to someone who is mentally unstable it can mean extreme provocation.
Everytime i hear of a death of a child my heart will bleed... sigh...
along, which makes me wonder, what goes thru their minds?
thanks mommy2iman, that certainly throws some light. My heart breaks too, whenever there's news about children in distress.
