THE 14 (ALMOST 15) MONTHS UPDATE

I was typing out Martian's question papers when it hit me: didn't our teachers used to say that, if we are pressed for time (during exams), simplify and write in short forms?? You will still get marks that way. Strangely enough, that will be my approach this time.

New words - better vocabulary - better persuasion skills
-uuk-uuk(poo), bett (bag), beh-bih (baby), bass (bus), toh-toh (motor), meek (milk), bobok (sleep), pipi (cheek), nnosh (nose), errh (ear), wan-toh-teh (one, two, three), o-hen (orange), a-meen (amin), bab-bab(spank), pakk (tampar - used when being notty), maktok, maknab (the nanny), abang (damiral, the nanny's son), amet (the nanny's other son), baba (sing baabaa black sheep for her)... and a few others.

And the most wonderful thing is, the other day, I showed her Aniq's picture (boipren dia lah tu konon) on the monitor screen, and said "A-niq, A-niq," she grinned and rattled "Nik! Nik! Nik!"

In fact, say anything to her and she will surprise you by imitating exactly what you said. The catch-phrase these few days is "Ap-pa-toh (apa tu, penang style)", "Satt (sekejap)" and today, "Al-lah!" Alhamdulillah...

Body parts recognition
-nen-nen (duh!), nose, ears, eyes, head, belly, pet-pet (lol), feet, hands
-next, must introduce her to elbows, knees, ankles, belly-button, moustache,

Motor skills
-Gross - able to run quite fast, still learning to jump. She loves to tip-toe though, like a ballerina.
-Fine - picking up stuff & dumping them in baskets (clothes, toys, clothes pegs), still picking up lints & puts in her mouth. She doesn't have those shape-sorters so I'm not sure how good she is.

New discovery
-
the small picture frames within her reach - will take each in both hands and kepit under her armpits wherever she goes
-stuffs on the kitchen counter - the fridge is still number one magnet, but she's growing taller and the kitchen counter was designed and built for pygmies in mind (me mak giant compared to my aunt's five-foot-nothing, who was the house's previous owner)
- the cooker knobs - she keeps shutting them off while I'm cooking! It drives me nuts! Sampai ke sudah lauk tak masak macam ni. It was worse when she turned the gas max while I'm frying eggs. I tell you, instant century eggs!
-the sink's second drawer from top - she goes there straight to get the small colorful tupperwares & containers. At least I know she doesn't need those stacking cups toys.
- the tongue - she sticks it out & rubs it in her spare time, when she's not occupied by her fridge-raiding & knob-twiddling activities.

Momma's helper
-she doesn't really help in the kitchen (mengacau ada!) but she does pull her weight when it comes to laundry. Hands me small articles of clothings (i.e her shirt & shorts, momma's & abah's shorts) while I hang them on hangers before I take them out to the clothesline.
-fetches stuff when asked to (when she feels like it lah, ada mood rajin jugak) the remote/handphone, toys on the floor, my clothes on the bed when I'm done showering, etc.

Personality
-Head strong streak making its way. Understands, but prefers to ignore simple instructions, like no, sit down, don't run, NO NO! don't open the fridge! No, don't push the chair. No, don't climb. No, don't switch the channels to Vaanavil!!!
-Strong will - won't stop crying/shouting/tormenting people until she gets what her heart desires.
- Affectionate - kisses you out of the blue. Unprompted. Unasked.
-Cheeky- you can see that in the twinkle in her eyes, can't you?
-Funny - my mom always let out this comment, "Lawaklah cucu Tok Ma ni!" whenever she's amazed at Nunu's antics & funny faces.

Sleep pattern
-doesn't wake up so often for night feeds, longer naps, kicks her sleeping partners

Feeding pattern
-still downing no more than 4 oz from the bottle - which takes FOREVER to finish. Prefers nen-nen anytime of the day.
-happily munches on adult food & declaring them "Dapp uh!". Especially kalau suap pakai tangan, whoooa besaqnya bukak mulut. The same can't be said about her porridges. Loves keropok lekor & cokodok (jemput-jemput). And there's always room for snacks.

OK, That's all for now!

Nunu kicks her sleeping partners?? Me too!! Kaboooshhh!!! Then I'd get dragged back to the centre of the bed by a grumpy daddy.
