Alas, someone dares :) Thank you, Cady McBronzie. For you, I shall dedicate this whole entry on Dory Ala Hantam Sajalah.
I love saying your name, it makes me wanna talk in a 5-year old voice!
I can't say no to a new friend, though I feel that it's inappropriate for me to be giving out recipes (which I don't actually have) for the risk of poisoning somebody (gives Mynn the evil eye)
So, maybe it's better if I give simple guide instead. Feel free to apply your own modification to the erm, recipe. I have to think real hard to recall what happened in my kitchen that evening, because I used whatever that was available in my fridge.
Ingredients:
1. slabs of frozen Dory fish - thawed
2. tomatoes - halved.
3. potatoes (I prefer russet) - peeled, cut, boiled, drained.
4. cabbages - cut into strips (I love the sound of the cabbage squeeks for its life at the knife!)
5. carrots - you can either cube it, or shred it. and i like them raw (unlike a certain predominantly carnivorous creature) of course you can boil them with the potatoes if you like
OR you can use baby tomatoes, baby carrots and baby potatoes. This way, you save time from peeling & cutting (haha ni otak orang pemalas)
Seasonings:
1. worcestershire sauce ( i have to use the spellcheck for this word!)
2. salt
3. white pepper
4. black pepper
5. mix of italian herbs (oregano, basil, rosemary, ginkgo- ha! kidding)
6. butter
7. grated cheese - i used the mozarella, parmesan & cheddar mix.
8. milk or cream - i use evaporated, but cream will be much much nicer
8. mayonnaise or thousand island sauce (whatever dressing you have)
Instructions, in no particular working order:
1. Marinate fish with worcestershire sauce (small drops on each side), salt, a little butter & a little milk for about 10 minutes. Pan-grill until cooked. Sprinkle some cheese for the last touch.
2. Toss the tomatoes in some salt, black pepper, white pepper, put in baking dish, top with some cheese & grill for 1/2 hour under 160 degrees. You can opt this out if you hate veges.
3. For the coleslaw, it's up to your imagination, really. You can cheat by mixing frozen veges (carrots, peas, corns) with mayonnaise, some lemon juice, salt and pepper, but I used raw cabbages and carrots because I love the crunch. You can opt this out too if you hate veges.
4. After the fish is cooked, use the same pan to heat up some butter (use low fire remember, dowan to burn the butter!) about a few spoonfuls (no reason to be stingy, plug your arteries!) and put in the potatoes. Add some milk or cream, agak2 lah how many people you are serving (for one serving, i used about 1 oz), some salt & seasoning (also agak2). Of course, you can skip this whole process altogether and fry some instant french fries dipped in Heinz ketchup.
5. Arrange everything nicely in a big plate. Don't forget to drizzle some of the butter sauce on the fish. If you go easy on the salt, I'm sure the dish is pretty nice :)
6. Oh ya, for the 'sirap orenggo-morenngo', mix red syrup (courtesy of my sweet tooth Tok) with orange & mango cordial.
There you have it, a recipe, but not quite. Hope you try and enjoy it, Cady!

Speaking of snapper, we owe you the recipe. Wait hor. The chef is bz and tired this week. :D

dith, hehe tipah jangan tertipu :) nunu je yg cakap sedap. You have to ask cady if it turns out good for her too. If it doesn't, then she's a lousy cook too! LOL kidding, cady!
