Ho boy. You won't BELIEVE what I did last nite. Prepare to be blown away with what I'm about to recount here. It could be one of the most bizarre motherhood story you've ever heard.
I did a Britney. No, I didn't elope to Las Vegas, got married in an dingy chapel and got an annulment. What i did was far worse than that.
I *gulp* drove with Nunu on my lap, sleeping. Please, please, please don't report me. I know it was a suicidal and reckless decision, but I had no choice, really. Please dont label me as a irresponsible mommy! I did think of her safety, I weighed my options - but when you have a baby who's about to -sigh, i dont wanna say this- throw a tantrum in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere - I'm sure you'd do the same thing. Would you?
It's like this. We were out for an evening excursion, just the two of us, first to Penang to meet an old friend, then to Mak Tok's house. After getting Nunu bathed and fed and played with Mak Tok and Wan, we were only able to head home at close to 10pm. She never had any problem in the car, as she would usually (and easily) doze off to sleep. We were only halfway thru the journey when she acted up so much and she refused to be strapped on her car seat. I did everything I could; talk, sing, shout, recite Quranic verses, distract her with toys; to no avail. Tried calling hubby many, many times, but heaven knows why he didn't pick-up. Gosh, he doesnt know about this, coz if he does, and he will eventually - if someone who read this blog tells him (yeah, I meanf YOU lah Ikhwan, so dont you dare) - I'm gonna be in deep--- shoot.
I stopped by the curb a few times to let her suckle but she won't sleep and wanted to PLAY.
Oh dear God, I thought, this is gonna take all night.
By 11 pm, as she was getting high and drowsy on the milk, I have to make a decision quick; repeated calls made to hubby were still unanswered. Even if I lift her up slowly to put her back in her seat, her eyes would spring open and she'd start bawling summore.
So I let her sleep, while I navigate thru the dark nite, making sure the speedometer never past 40km/ph. I was lucky traffic was remarkably clear as I took the kampung route, and I safely reached home by midnight.
Maybe I'm just over-reacting, I bet hundreds of other desperate moms secretly do this unspeakable act or something much more daring.
Now, you probably think this is nothing, that if Britney can do it, well - anyone can.
Ok, do it with a baby latched on to your boob.
Ha, dont get me wrong. I'm not proud with what I've done. But here's a piece of evidence.
Now hold on to your horses! I took this pic as I pulled over to park in the garage, not while driving behind the wheels, ok. That'll be waaaayyyyy to crazy.

Oh no ... the in-car tantrum. Baaaddd ....
Driving with a baby on your lap? tsk, tsk, tsk ... but understandable considering the circumstances. Perhaps Nunu was over-stimulated, being up past her bedtime?
it could be many reasons, and i'm still figuring them out, and taking measures to counter them. So far I prepare toys and milk in the car and make sure her diaper's dry before we're off. there're still a few occasions where those tricks dun work
hmmm... so far the only thing i've done is to drive a few blocks away with baby in my hug-a-bub sling coz i'm too lazy to remove him from it....
u didnt go and get urself knocked up AGAIN like britney now didja? :p
oh nononononoNOOOO!I may be crazy but that is suicidal Hana! BTW like you said, some of our female body parts lose their sexual identity if you have a baby attached to it all the time, and in my case, almost all night long! So, we can help feeling very unromantic at the moment :S
