I remember asking my SIL, K.Zila, Betty's mum, whether she's plannning a party for Betty's birthday. A year and a half 'married' into my Hubby's family has taught me that whatever makan-makan session must be done ad hoc. Especially in K.Zila's case, there has been numerous occasions where guests will be invited in less than 24 hours before the actual event.
Her answer was of course, as vague as I expected. Maybe, maybe not.
So what's killing me really is that I seem -to- never- learn! Of course when the weekend comes and especially when Abang Long's family balik kampung, a party is imminent. Of course, it must be done on a Saturday afternoon, which is a working day for me; and of course I was told about it only hours before. So why did I ask in the first place? Why, because I was planning to get Betty a present, of course. But of course, being the great procrastinator I must put it off until the last minute. Of course, after work that Saturday I must make a detour Anakku to buy a present and then rush to fetch anakku to get her ready for the party.
Do I sound like I'm complaining? I really am not, because I have come to grips that I have this self-fulfilling prophecy syndrome. It's something like, you get up from bed knowing that you're gonna be late for work. So whatever you do, even if you wake up earlier, you'd dawdle around until you realize that you're late. I just have to live up to my expectations that my day would be as disorganized as it should be. Same goes with work. If I were rushing to do something, I'd make sure it will be settled in the nick of time. That's bad, I know. That's what I mean, I'm leading my life to self-destruction :)
So why didn't I save the trouble and get the present earlier, knowing that there's going to be party no matter what? Beats me - and that's the problem. Do I make sense here?
Anyway, the party was a blast, the house was all gamat (not the sea creature kind) - and the food - one word - nyum.
Poor Betty. All the cake's frills had been gobbled up by the cake-monster Brother Danish. And after we sang the birthday song, and everyone urgef her to blow the candles, he impatiently leaned over and blew it for her!

Wah! Another cake picture. Making me drool ....!
And who was making the racket that caused Nunu's headache? Could it be her momma rambling on about time management? *wink, wink* :D
the racket is caused by my cheeky cuzinslah, not momma.
What? There's a cake in that party? All I had that evening is momma's milk and i even missed my dinner *pouts*
